If small groups are thought of as a solution to desocialization, I'm afraid the news isnt' very good. Few think they work, at least on a personal level. . .

Princeton's Robert Wuthnow has found that small groups mainly "provide occasions for individuals to focus on themselves in the presence of others. The social contract binding members together asserts only the weakest of obligations. Come if you have time. Talk if you feel like it. Respect everyone's opinion. Never criticize. Leave quietly if you become dissatisfied."

You can turn your adult class into a group of growing, serving disciples.  Here’s how.  Disciples are made, not born.  Here’s a proven process to encourage your adults to grow in their faith – and to live it daily in a powerful way.

“The need of the hour is not more meetings.  It is making disciples in the meeting we have.  It is teaching that results in biblical disciples.  Josh Hunt’s Disciple-Making Teachers shows us how.  Let us not only read it but put it into practice.”
